Merrell 1trl moab 2 rpt 1

Merrell 1TRL Moab 2 RPT hiker

Merrell’s 1TRL collection has never been afraid to experiment with its outdoor heritage, and the Moab 2 RPT has to be one of its wildest creations yet. Taking the familiar shape of the brand’s beloved Moab hiker, this version introduces reptile-inspired texture and a modern, layered look. It’s part trail shoe, part fashion experiment, with enough personality to make your usual sneakers seem downright boring. Wear them with wide cargos, washed denim or technical trousers and a fleece. Even if your biggest outdoor adventure this week is walking across town, these make the journey a whole lot more interesting.

Skechers SKX Reign 2.0 sneaker

Skechers is getting serious about basketball. The brand’s latest performance sneaker, set to hit the court on the feet of NBA players like Julius Randle, is built for quick cuts, explosive takeoffs and plenty of grip. The SKX Reign 2.0 combines a lightweight mesh and synthetic upper with responsive dual-density HYPER BURST cushioning and a full-length carbon-infused plate. Underneath, a Goodyear performance outsole helps keep you planted when changing direction. The crisp white-and-blue colorway has a cool, almost throwback look, too.

Timberland jacquemus authentic boat shoe 1

Timberland x Jacquemus Authentic boat shoe

French fashion house Jacquemus reunites with Timberland to give the iconic three-eye boat shoe a surprisingly luxurious makeover. The familiar handsewn-inspired silhouette now comes wrapped in dark brown croc-embossed leather and that splash of Jacquemus color, lending the rugged New England staple a little Parisian swagger. There’s still a substantial rubber lug sole underneath, along with a padded leather collar and comfortable EVA footbed. The result feels dressier than your usual boat shoe without losing its outdoorsy charm.

Adidas originals winterhill splz fc 1

Adidas Originals Winterhill SPLZ F.C. sneaker

The adidas’ Spezial line has a knack for resurrecting obscure archival styles, and the Winterhill SPZL F.C. takes that sensibility into hiking territory. The low-top silhouette combines suede, leather and textile textures in a moody black palette, with an outdoors-inspired sole that gives it considerably more substance than your average terrace sneaker. It’s a nice departure from the endless parade of Sambas and Gazelles, especially as the weather gets colder. Pair them with roomy cords, fatigues or straight-leg jeans and a vintage track jacket. They’re sporty, slightly rugged and just obscure enough to earn a second look.

Rhodes roper boot

Rhodes Roper boot

We’ve said it before, but you don’t need to dress like a cowboy to appreciate a good roper boot. Rhodes takes the traditional Western silhouette and makes it approachable, with a shorter shaft and cleaner profile than the tall, pointed boots you might associate with the rodeo. The appeal is in that balance: enough Western character to make your usual jeans feel more interesting, without looking like you’ve committed to an entirely new personality. Wear them beneath straight-leg denim, relaxed chinos or even some wool trousers. They’re an especially good alternative to Chelsea boots when you want something with a little more attitude.
