3 Ways to Wear an Overshirt

Going against the grain is nothing new for 18 East. As brands saturate the market with aggressive seasonal calendars, overconsumption of fast-fashion items and unethical manufacturing—18 East has done the complete opposite. Instead, they do small capsule collections every few months and collaborations with heritage brands that also align with their design ethos.
The person responsible for zigging when other brands zag is founder of the brand, Antonio Ciongoli. His love of military-styled garments, relaxed silhouettes and a skater's mentality is the foundation of the brand. He has a keen eye for under the radar brands that pair well with his personal taste but also with 18 East as well. They've collaborated with brands like Padmore & Barnes, Inis Meaín and Kanata—just to name a few. To give you an idea of how he is juxtaposing his looks, they paired a style of Belgian loafers with some undyed ripstop double knee pants that gives off a refreshing look; especially since that's typically a shoe paired with lots of tailoring.
18 East believes in slow production processes and working with manufacturers that can make unique garments using techniques such as different dyeing practices, handloom wovens and very specific needle stitching. Their most recent drop was released a few weeks ago and one of Antonio's favorite pieces is the Caleb overshirt, which is made in India from a handwoven cotton tweed created to give the shirt a hefty but nice feel whenever you put it on. It's an understated statement piece that can be worn in all seasons. We caught up with Antonio to see how he'll be styling this standout shirt jacket from their latest collection.
