Alex Mill’s motto is “Wake up. Get dressed. Don’t overthink it.” They're one of a handful of brands focusing on elevated basics with subtle twists, but they seem to be doing it better than anyone. Their no-nonsense clothes are understated yet cool, and meant to last for longer than just one season.

A huge reason why Alex Mill has this design ethos is in large part to their co-founder and design director Somsack Sikhounmuong, whose easy-going approach to clothing includes everyday staples like tees, button-downs and relaxed pants. There's just something so inherently effortless (and personal) about his wardrobe. He could teach a masterclass on how to pair different textures and fabrics for a new and refreshing look. Somsack strikes the perfect balance of lived-in yet polished—think beat-up vintage jeans, Stan Smith adidas and relaxed chinos topped with a chore jacket. Yet somehow, these classics always look new in his own unique perspective.

The brand has done a great job creating easy-to-wear everyday pieces that are interchangeable to create a uniform that's well put together and intentional. One of these staple pieces is their denim work jacket. Besides being a modern take on a chore coat, Alex Mill used their current spring collection to revamp all things denim and this piece happened to be part of it.

“Since I was younger, denim was my favorite fabric—it just made every outfit cool,” says Somsack. We caught up with him to see how he's styling their new worker jacket and what he'll be pairing it with for the warmer months ahead.
