The first full trailer for Quentin Tarantino's highly anticipated Once Upon a Time in Hollywood just dropped and it was everything we could've hoped for—maybe even a little more. The film, which takes place in Los Angeles in the late 1960s, centers on Rick Dalton (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), a washed-up actor and his long-time stunt double, respectively.
Tarantino, who wrote the script and is also directing and producing the movie, was inspired by his own upbringing in the midst of LA's hippie-fueled counterculture and mania around Charles Manson's cult. You see, Dalton and Booth live next door to Sharon Tate—the pregnant actress killed by the Manson Family. And while the film showcases some serious action, it also seems to utilize snappy deadpan humor to undercut Tarantino's signature violence. That's not to say that Mason (played here by Damon Herriman) doesn't creep us out, even if all we see in the trailer is his wide, yet menacing smile. And though the film is set in 1969, a lot of the clothes have the louche swagger we're all looking for right now. From bold patterned camp collar shirts and mock necks accented with necklaces to rugged denim and aviator shades.
