Fly to London for Less than $400 Roundtrip

Don't sleep on these impressive fares from Virgin Atlantic

London is always a good idea, but it's particularly great in the fall. The summer tourists disperse and the city's parks offer up an impressive display of autumn foliage. You can tuck into comfort food and tall pints at a cozy pub, where more than likely, they'll have a fire crackling in the fireplace. Ready to book a trip? You're in luck—Virgin Atlantic has round-trip flights starting at $359 from nearly a dozen American cities.

The airline is currently offering a range of deals to London (as well as Manchester) for trips from August through early November. Some of the more affordable fares are available from Boston ($359), but there are also roundtrip flights from New York City ($371) and from Miami ($438) as well as impressive roundtrip fares from Los Angeles ($483) and San Francisco ($508). Of course, the best fares for each city vary by date, departure time and class of seats.

Last year, the airline introduced three new ways to fly on the cheap. Economy Light is the most affordable option, but charges you for a checked bag (perfect for shorter trips). Economy Classic offers advanced seat assignment and a checked bag, and Economy Delight offers all of that, plus extra legroom and priority boarding. And all economy seats come with the airline's complimentary Wi-Fi, cocktails and three-course meals.

Meet you at the gate?

Tampa International Airport has become the latest US airport to allow non-ticketed visitors to go through security, following Pittsburgh International Airport. The move harkens back to a simpler time, prior to the September 11 attacks, where meeting someone at the gate was commonplace.
