A Vitamin-Infused Shaving Cream
The benefits of trading up a grooming staple
No one likes waking up early, splashing some water on your face, and quickly shaving, only to have razor burn and a few nicks on your face before you've even had coffee. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I've used a ton of razors and shaving creams trying to find one that works for me. After shaving one day, I woke up to find my neck red and itchy with irritation. It definitely wasn't the razor cartridge because I'm diligent about changing those out, so my next guess was the shaving cream (that shall go unnamed).
My first mistake was buying a shaving foam. Although it had aloe as a key ingredient, it was scented, which is a no-no for my skin. After a few days, I tried to remedy it by moisturizing my face with some healing products, but it was still red. I sent my wife a few options of new shaving creams that I was eyeing, and she suggested I go with the vitamin E shaving cream from trusty skincare brand MALIN+GOETZ.
The namesake ingredient definitely appealed to me. Vitamin E is known for its moisturizing and antioxidant properties, and this formula combines it with shea butter and chamomile to hydrate and soothe skin while calming any irritation. The actual cream is super lightweight, so you'll need a few pumps to get good coverage. The non-foaming formula helps protect your skin from any dragging or nicks while rinsing clean without completely drying out your skin. Great for all skin types, it has a cooling effect that makes your face feel extremely clean and awaken afterward.
I get that $34 can be steep for shaving cream, but having a stress-free shave and clear skin is priceless, right? I thought it'd be best to invest in a quality product so I could be proactive and not reactive when it came to my irritated skin. Besides, since I really only shave once a month to give my skin a break, I get a bit more bang for my buck—opposed to if I were to use it two or three times a week. But still, if you're like me and need a gentle shaving cream for your skin that prevents razor burn, I don't think you can find a better one for a better price.
