"Wait until you've got a bit of a tan before attempting the really bright colors," warns Mashburn. "Your arms are going to look a whole lot better in June than they will March."
"The funny thing about color," says Sid Mashburn; "Is that I don't know many guys who don't like it—they simply don't know how to wear color properly and there's this weird stigma around it." Which is why the Southern shop owner, who's not afraid of a pair of green pants or a pink shirt, often gets gentleman to step out of their sartorial comfort zone by trying just one piece in a bold hue. "You know how you build a wardrobe of staples and then supplement them with a few trendy pieces? It's the same way with color," he says. Which means pair your new splashy shade with more classic, neutral items. "It's also important to roll your sleeves on a bright shirt. Otherwise you're missing the opportunity to balance everything out and calm down the intensity."
