Tradition and innovation are not mutually exclusive ideas. To prove this point, just look to the new performance line, Fourlaps, launching today. Named after the number of laps required to complete a mile on a track, the brand offers high-quality athletic apparel that combines performance and good looks. The debut collection is inspired by vintage images of Ivy League athletes but designed for the modern man with today's smartest materials.

The line was founded by Daniel Shapiro, a retail industry vet with tours of duty at mass-market brands like Gap, who worked hard to keep the quality high but the prices attainable. We'd say he succeeded. The shorts and sweats feature practical zippers and multiple pockets to securely hold your phone, keys and wallet while you train. Cleverly placed reflective elements keep you visible at night. Quick drying, four-way stretch fabrics make movement a breeze. And one of our favorite pieces, the Silver-charge T-shirt, is crafted in Los Angeles incorporating silver particles into the fabric to help eliminate odors on the shirt for the life of the garment.

“
Never wait for that perfect moment, as it may never present itself."
- Daniel Shapiro, founder
The look is minimal, but uniquely all-American as well. The brand's motto is "Start Before You're Ready." And Shapiro stresses that it's more than a tagline. "It's the advice I give to myself every day—for me, working out is as much about the physical as it is the mental," he says. "So I included the slogan on all my gear to motivate you to never wait for that perfect moment, as it may never present itself." After all, who couldn't use a little helpful push before a workout?
