While plenty of footwear brands like New Balance and Nike have succeeded in balancing form and function when it comes to sneakers, there's a real gap in the market for athletic men's apparel that looks as a good as it performs. Just try running errands or meeting friends in a pair of baggy gym shorts or snug compression pants. And why do most performance brands think men only want to wear black and neon (not to mention oversized logos)? Thankfully, new brands like Myles are working to change that mindset. A partnership between the gents at Taylor Stitch and Huckberry, Myles is a California-based company crafting American-made shorts that are lightweight and built for movement. They're technical enough for the gym, durable enough for the outdoors and simple enough to wear with your regular clothes.
"The main focus was providing a fit that was tailored and a fabric that was structured so they look clean on the body but perform incredibly well due to the four-way stretch," says co-founder Michael Maher. "And we also cut a longer version for the guys who like a little more coverage on the legs." The shorts feature a water repellent treatment, clever mesh pockets that were designed to stay in place when you move and come in four simple shades that look as good on your bike as they do at a backyard barbecue.
