Fall Textures

Fall weather is rolling in and with it, your chance to change up your wardrobe with some seasonal signatures—rich colors, warm fabrics and a slew of textures and patterns. And there's never been a better time to embrace them. In fact, it's the perfect time to start layering them together to fight the chill while upping your style.

For this look, we started with a natural indigo-dyed sport shirt under a rustic striped merino wool sweater (complete with suede elbow patches). Over that, we layered on a rugged weather-resistant quilted vest with a smart, standing collar that's been lined in a hearty twill. We paired them with some slim-fitting vintage-inspired Levi's with a worn-in wash that have been tailored with a slight taper to the leg. Finishing off the look, we grabbed a few of our favorites like Ernest Alexander's Watson briefcase, cut from a durable, protective waxed cotton and trimmed with luxe leather handles. Along with Ray-Ban's leaner, meaner "New Wayfarer" model in an autumn-appropriate tortoise finish. Of course, Word's handsome bandana-printed pocket-sized notebooks will make for an attractive and practical pinch-hitter for your average fabric pocket square.

Stacy Adams Shoe Company, the sponsor of this piece, has long been a part of American culture. The brand was founded in 1875 by William H. Stacy and Henry L. Adams in Brockton, Massachusetts and has stayed true to the company's roots of classically handsome footwear that is comfortable, affordable and adaptable. The Dawson chukka, featured here, is offered in three shades—grey, black and the snuff brown we chose.

Grounding the look is a pair of classically-style but easy to wear boots from Stacy Adams. Their Dawson boot is crafted from both a soft suede and burnished leather, then finished with brogue detailing around the ankle, waxed cotton laces and a comfortable EVA sole. Paired with some Italian-made cotton socks from Club Monaco, the lightweight chukka style has a slim silhouette which makes it ideally suited for any casual and dressy occasion the season brings.
