Evisu

Evisu was crafting jeans from Japanese selvedge denim long before anyone was geeking out over all things raw, unwashed and indigo-dyed. Founded in 1991 by Hidehiko Yamane, the company had some good years before falling out of favor with fashion folk and denim connoisseurs alike. That is, until this fall, when Scott Morrison, the co-founder of Earnest Sewn, came on as creative director and reintroduced simple jeans in both raw and realistically worn-out styles. This fall, he's expanding into a full line of clothes called Evisu Genes, with a timely emphasis on heritage and craftsmanship. Think a WWII-influenced Navy deck jacket or a cotton shirt that references a workwear shirt from 1929.
