Gentlemanly Jeans

A handkerchief in your back pocket was par for the course back in the early days of dungarees. But it wasn't until recently, when they came back into style, that we started noticing them tucked into the pockets of well-dressed guys around town. Whether it's a classic paisley trainmen bandana, or the selvedge styles from modern workwear label The Hill-Side (as seen here tucked into the jeans of the label's cofounder Sandy Corsillo), they offer a punch of color along with added utility. The key to pulling it off is to let just the slightest edge to peek out above the pocket. Think of them as pocket squares for your jeans. As Walker Lamond once opined on Rules for my Unborn Son: "Carry two handkerchiefs. The one in your back pocket is for you. The one in your breast pocket is for her."
