Special Fabrications, a west coast denim label launching this spring, has a clear mission: premium jeans without the sticker shock. When founders Luis Gonzales, a veteran fit model and his business partner, a denim designer who goes only by B.Beard, combined their industry know-how and sourcing connections, it was clear the idea had legs. "It's about creating new classics," says B.Beard. That means crisp cuts in natural washes (from raw to worn) in simple fits named after the duo's style icons: a slim Brando, the straight-leg Costello, and relaxed (yet trim) Dean. "We want to offer quality, design and detail to people who want something unique, but don't want to spend $400 for jeans," says Gonzales. "Or don't have the luxury of a
shopping trip to Daikanyama."
