In a time when even luxury conglomerates are on the edge of shuttering brands, it only seems smart for new designers to have a fallback career. Perhaps that's why a handful of labels debuting this spring are helmed by guys whom have rather handsome paychecks from their day jobs. But there's another common thread. Think of it as the six degrees of celebrity clothing lines. Freedman, a line of slim-fitting vintage-esque shirts, is founded by Randy Freedman, who for the last seven years has been Ben Harper's guitar tech. Ben Harper, is launching his own label for both men and women with a laid-back Cali vibe called Propr with the help of friend (and known fashion offender) David Arquette. In June, Arquette's co-star from the film Free Money, Charlie Sheen, will sell a signature line of 1950s-inspired rockabilly shirts. The question is, who's next? And in what way will they be connected to Sheen?
