The Western Shirt

Somewhere between a sport shirt and a denim jacket, the western shirt is an off-duty staple that's probably more versatile than you might think. Though it's definitely one of those "you've got to try it to appreciate it" pieces. Cut from rugged materials, they're usually decorated with cowboy detailing like pearly stud snap buttons, dual flap chest pockets and those signature pointed yokes. These are not attributes that whisper. But like a pea coat or a pair of aviators, this solid shirting choice is one of those items that looks good on just about every guy, no matter your style. And while you could opt for a plaid or other pattern, we suggest sticking to simpler styles cut from washed or black denim or sturdier twills. Wear it open, layered over a T-shirt or tucked in, under a light cotton jacket. Or simply sport one on its own, sleeves rolled. Just don't be afraid of it.
