Porteños Loafers

$375, available today at Mohawk General Store

  • Next up for Industry of All Nations, a new take on Mexican Cabrales slippers crafted in bold autumnal plaids.

When the first images of these handsome shoes hit the web a few months back, Tumblrs everywhere went into a tizzy posting pics. But they're definitely worth the buzz. The latest project by socially responsible label Industry of All Nations, the Porteños loafers are a study in locally sourced style. "These loafers have been the classic dress shoe used by men in Buenos Aires for the past century and we recognized them as an iconic shoe—a superb anonymous design that was in a latent state waiting to be discovered," says Fernando Gerscovich, the brand's creative director. "They're completely hand-shaped and hand-sewn by one of the only original shoemakers left in Buenos Aires." The slip-on shoes come in three colors of vegetable tanned saddle leather with leather soles and brass hardware. And they're officially launching today at LA's Mohawk General Store.
