Outerwear aficionados founded Penfield in Massachusetts back in 1975. To celebrate their 35th anniversary this season, they wanted to pay homage to the past while looking towards the future by teaming up with a select group of labels. This month, it's the buzzed-about collaboration with London's Garbstore. The limited-edition down vest was inspired by a vintage life preserver—specifically the toggle-fasten life vests commonly found on civilian boats in the 1930s. Though not quite as buoyant, these are water (and wind) resistant thanks to Penfield's own Hudson wax cloth. And while the duffle front certainly adds some charm, you'll appreciate the heavy duty, non-locking zipper when it gets really cold this winter.
$240, available this month at Garbstore and select retailers like Commonwealth.
