Adam for Mango

Most designer capsule collections have been strictly for the ladies. But Mango, which in the past has partnered with Milla Jovovich and Penélope Cruz, got a two-for-one deal by signing Adam Lippes. When execs at the Spanish retailer called the designer and gave him free reign to put his signature all-American ease into a collection for both guys and girls, he hopped on the first plane to Barcelona. Lippes says he appreciated that the store wasn't interested in trendy knock-offs, but genuine and simple pieces—the kind of tailored basics the designer's become known for since launching his namesake line five years ago. The 20-piece men's collection is a well-edited mix of crisp cotton shorts and suits, sailor stripes and summer-weight T-shirts. And if you like this, stay tuned—the collaboration will continue into next fall.

$30 to $320,
at Mango.

  • From 1996 to 2003, Lippes was the creative director for Oscar de la Renta.
