Bombers

Why

A breathable layering piece that's easy to pull on for cool spring evenings or breezy days, but isn't stifling or stuffy when the weather starts warming up.

Origins

Popularized by military pilots in the 1950s, the nylon jacket was a jet-age replacement for heavier shearling-lined flight jackets and given the Army-Navy specification number MA-1.

How to Wear It

Throw it over a T-shirt and your jeans or joggers (and utilize the double zippers most have). Or dress it up with a proper shirt and a knit tie or the "air tie" look like the guy on the left.

What to Look for

A flattering fit. The trim fit does a body good, thanks to the jacket's waist-minimizing and shoulder-accentuating design.
